How the 1 times table works
Multiplying by 1 means adding 1 to itself a certain number of times. For example, 1 × 3 means 1 added together 3 times. Once you know a few key facts - like ×1, ×2, ×5, and ×10 - the rest of the 1 times table becomes much easier to work out.

Any number times 1 stays exactly the same — this is called the identity property of multiplication, and it's the very first times-table fact worth locking in.
Real-world example: If you have 1 basket with 7 apples in it, you still have 7 apples — multiplying by 1 never changes the total.
